I am a founding partner of our firm. I have been practicing law for almost twenty-five years, with my entire practice devoted to the area of civil trial litigation. I was born in Sioux City, Iowa and grew up in northeast South Dakota. After high school, I attended the University of Kansas. I received my undergraduate degree in 1976 and my law degree in 1979. I am admitted to practice law in the state of Kansas; and the federal courts, including the District of Kansas, the Western District of Missouri, and the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals. I am a member of the Wyandotte County Bar Association and the Kansas Trial Lawyers Association. My carerr has involved all areas of civil trial practice. I have represented persons and families in all types of personal injury litigation, including automobile collisions, products liability, premises liability or slip and falls, workers' compensation and medical negligence. I also have litigated numerous types of employment matters, including claims for back wages and commissions, discrimination and harrassment. These include claims involving race, sex and disability. I was involved in one of the first successful trials of a claim under the Americans with Disabilities Act. Becuase of my trial experience, I have also been retained by defendants or their insurance carriers to defend them in litigation in these same areas of practice. I believe that this experience has allowed me to look obectively at cases with experience in representing both sides in litigation.
